PUBLIC TRANSPORT

I am an expatriate intending to come to Pretoria to work in 2013, what kind of public transport that is convenient and available in terms of trains and buses etc. because I do not want to buy a car immediately. Please advice? even if I live next my work place I dont want to use taxis because they are normally very expensive to use.

RESPONSE: PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN PRETORIA

The public transport is a bit tricky in Pretoria and South Africa. Our public transport is improving but not there yet. We have the minibus taxis, which are not usually reliable nor in a good condition. There are buses, depending on where you live and work. I have used buses and enjoyed them. But they dont cover the whole of Pretoria. An average working professional in Pretoria owns a car. The peak hour traffic doesn’t help but we have learnt to live with that, I guess.
