Pretoria Tourist Attractions

south africa museum Pretoria Tourist Attractions (South Africa)

There are lots of tourist attractions in Pretoria and the whole of the Gauteng Province. Whilst most of the foreign and national visitors have investment and business interests, Tshwane has a lot more to offer in the form of entertainment and natural resources. The city is culturally rich with most African ethnic groups represented and all eleven South African languages spoken. An average African Pretorian speaks at least four of the eleven official languages with some people speaking all of them.

Being the closest city to the most financially rich and vibey city of Johannesburg has had a positive effect on the city. Most Pretorians and Joburgers commute in between the cities for work every day. The majority of the people prefer to stay in this peaceful and quiet city than in the fast lane of Johannesburg. One can even buy the Tshwane weather, which is never too hot nor too cold. Pretorians live outdoors almost permanently. All the more reason for them to visit Pretoria tourist attractions. The tourist attractions include:

African Window

If you want to explore the cultural exhibitions, visit the African Window. You will enjoy the traditional dance, music and a lot more educational activities. Bring a few Rands to leave with a memento.

Church Square

The Dutch architect, Sytze Wierda designed the church square during the 19th century in the the Italian Renaissance style. The statue of Paul Kruger and the best architecture buildings are just a few of the interesting attractions in the Church Square.

Interesting to see is also the Church Street cemetery, also known as the Heroes Acre which was established in 1867. This is where many prominent citizens were buried including Breaker Morant, an Australian executed for the murder of missionaries during the Second Anglo-Boer War.
