Die Hoerskool Oos-Moot - Pretoria North High Schools

Die Hoerskool Oos-Moot (East Moot High School in English), is one of the high schools in Pretoria North. Derdepoortse High School (initial name) opened on January 8, 1952 with 211 learners. Their school building was located on the corner of 25th Avenue and Pierneef Street with the first principal being Mr. JC Geertsema. The school's name changed to Oos-Moot in 1953. The school's badge was made by JS du Toit, the woodwork teacher. The TANDRATWIEL represents work, the book knowledge, the Torch light, the laurel wreath reward given after victory. The school's motto is Work and Beat. They had 12 permanent school teachers in January 1954, with the student population of 402. By 1955, the school had grown to 14 permanent school teachers and 586 pupils.

When the school building was almost done on the 19th of November 1955, the MEC, Mr FH Odendaal laid the cornerstone. The official inauguration was held on the 1st of February 1957. The song of the school was written in 1959 by Mrs. L. Havenga.

The learner population grew to 1400 in 2011 which was motivation for the school to extend its buildings to accommodate the number of students. A brand new wing with six classrooms was added. There were new full-ropes course and a gym installed under the leadership of a full time coach BIOKINETIC. The sports grounds are composed of 5 weatherproof netball courts, three rugby fields, three hockey fields and a full athletic field.
