Hi, I am considering a job in Pretoria. I want to know how I can get a drivers' licence to drive a car in Pretoria, South Africa? What if I am having a drivers' licence in India? What if I don't?
Car Driving in Pretoria South Africa by: Mbini (ed)
Hi Sam
Hope you enjoy your job and your stay in Pretoria.
As a foreigner with a drivers' license you will be expected to apply for an International Driver's Permit. An International Driver's Permit should be carried in conjunction with your national driving license must be printed or authenticated in English.
You must also carry your passport with you so that you can be identified as the legal holder of the drivers' license.
Traffic officers will expect to see documentation if they stop you for any reason.
If you don't have an Indian drivers' license, then you will need to apply for one. You have to get a learners' license (after a theoretic test) and a driver's license after a successful practical test.
These are the rules, according to "Arrive Alive" campaign. An official organisation for road safety.
Hope this helps.

corrept & stupid officials by: Dixon
Indian License is valid in SA. How ever you have to get a letter from embassy. Unqualified traffic officials will harass you for money. Beware.
