Afrobeats Evolution Concert (Olufemi Live) March 8, 2013 Friday 8:00 PM - 11:30 PM A unique revival, Afrobeat Evolution is a live club experience inspired by the legendary nights at The Shrine of Fela Kuti with a pounding 3 hour performance by Olufemi and the Natives at its heart. Nigerian saxophonist and Singer Olufemi Ogunkoya is taking Afrobeat forward, ‘playing the troubles out of you’ with The Natives, his ferocious 12 piece Afrobeats engine and powerful troupe of dancers. To be held every four month, Afrobeat Evolution will bring together the live music of classic African dancefloors from Afrobeats to Kwasa Kwasa, Hip Life to Sokous and Afro funk. The concert will be supported by DJs General S’bu Nxumalo The launch of Afrobeat Evolution will also feature ‘Beads’ a multi-media display of African beadwork and Afrobeaters will be encouraged to dress with a traditional influence as the night will be documented and images relayed live as part of the exhibition.
